About Bios
Elma Pierre
Elma is from the beautiful islands of the Bahamas but currently resides in Hollywood, Florida. She has been an advocate for people with disabilities for many years, serving on multiple boards and writing about disability-related topics. Elma is the first Bahamian Haitian to be appointed by the late Governor Lawton Chiles to the Florida Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers (FICCIT). She facilitated a delegation from the Uzbekistan disability community in 2013. She authored the article Honor a Father 2014 Healthy Start. In addition to serving on the Disability Rights Florida Board of Directors, Elma had roles in both The Family Café and the Parent to Parent of Miami Boards of Directors. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Social Work to work in healthcare administration.
