Native American Resources

For Native Americans with disabilities, finding resources that best support you and your community may be difficult. We've cataloged a list of resources available to you that address issues related to Indigeneity and disability, including information for veterans, health resources, aging resources, disability organizations to look into, and more.

We hope you find this helpful, and please feel free to contact us if you know of other resources that would be meaningful to add.

Florida's 2 Federally Recognized* Tribes & Information

*Federal tribal recognition does not equate to a Native's tribe existence. There are many Indigenous peoples from Florida who do not belong to either of these tribes. They are still valid and important, and we encourage you to learn more about the many people native to Florida by using the 'Other historical and Native information' section of this page.

Native American Disability Law Center (NDLC)

  • Native Disability Law Center (NDLC)
    • The Law Center's mission is to advocate so that the rights of Native Americans with disabilities in the Four Corners area are enforced, strengthened and brought in harmony with their communities. The Native American Disability Law Center provides advocacy, referral information, and educational resources to all Native Americans with a disability living anywhere in the Four Corners area who feels that they have been:

      • discriminated against because of their disability

      • abused or neglected, or

      • wrongly denied a service

    • NDLC Resources and Publications including information related to education, housing, accessibility, and more.
    • Opportunity with the NDLC: Intertribal Disability Advocacy Council
      • Our sibling P&A, The Native American Disability Law Center, is putting together an Intertribal Disability Advocacy Council, comprised of representatives of different Native communities across the country. The goal of the council is to identify common issues across the Native Disability community and recommend action steps to address these barriers. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Intertribal Disability Advocacy Council, please contact Hoskie Benally, Community & Government Liaison at hBenally@NativeDisabilityLaw.org
