On Medicaid? Expect a notice from Florida’s Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) soon about enrolling in a Statewide Medicaid Managed Care plan. This year, AHCA will automatically enroll you in a Managed Care plan, and it is your responsibility to disenroll if you do not want the plan.

New law will soon enroll Medicaid Recipients into statewide Medicaid Managed Care (SMMC) Plans

What is happening?
In 2022, the Florida legislature passed a bill called “SB 1950 — Statewide Medicaid Managed Care Program.” This bill makes statewide changes to Medicaid, which are going into effect at the beginning of 2025.
The bill approved a new Medicaid process. Everyone who received Medicaid state plan services will be automatically enrolled in a Medicaid Managed Care plan for state plan services, not waiver services.
You will receive more information from the Agency for Healthcare Administration in November. At that time, you can disenroll and stay on “fee for service” Medicaid or change plans. Either way, you will need to notify them of your choice.

Late September 2024

The Agency will mail all voluntary Florida Medicaid recipients a letter explaining that the Statewide Medicaid Managed Care program is transitioning and that they will need to either select a managed care plan, opt not to enroll in a managed care plan, or be automatically enrolled in a managed care plan. |

Mid-November 2024
|
The Agency will inform all recipients of their managed care plan assignments via letter, which will include additional information on how to disenroll or change plans if desired.
During this time, AHCA will contact those living in the following counties: Broward, Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, Indian River, Lee, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, Sarasota, and St. Lucie.
