TALLAHASSEE, FL— Disability Rights Florida (DRF), the state’s Congressionally mandated protection and advocacy system for individuals with disabilities, is pleased to announce the appointment of Cherie Hall as its new executive director.
Hall brings over 25 years of experience in nonprofit management and finance, with a deep commitment to advancing the rights of people with disabilities. She joined DRF in 2007, quickly rising through the ranks—first as director of finance and administration in 2010 and later as director of operations in 2019. Most recently, she served as interim executive director following the retirement of Peter Sleasman last year.
A passionate advocate for disability rights and inclusion, Hall currently serves as board treasurer of the Florida Health Justice Project and as a board member of the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council. Her leadership extends across multiple organizations, having held various board positions with the Big Bend Homeless Coalition, Tallahassee Museum, GFWC Tallahassee Junior Woman’s Club, GFWC Florida Federation of Women’s Clubs, and the Association of Government Accountants in Tallahassee.
“Having been a dedicated and visionary leader within our organization, Cherie Hall brings a deep understanding of our mission, values, and the people we serve,” said Board Chair Katy DeBriere. “Her passion, strategic mindset, and unwavering commitment to the disability community make her the ideal person to lead us into this next chapter.”
Hall holds a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a Master’s in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
“I am honored to continue working alongside our incredible staff, Board of Directors, PAIMI Advisory Council, and community partners to further the legacy of Disability Rights Florida,” Hall said. “Together, we will expand our impact and ensure equal opportunities for all Floridians with disabilities.”
